![]() ![]() Step Two – Download JDownloader2 JAR Fileĭo NOT download the installer from the homepage of JDownloader () because as I previously mentioned, it contains adware/malware. Run the installer and follow the instructions in the Wizard, leaving everything at its default.Under “Choose JVM”, be sure to select “Hotspot” (Hotspot is the most popular Java Virtual Machine, it’s Open-Source and suitable for all workloads, including running JDownloader!).Under “Choose Version” make sure you select “Latest”.As mentioned earlier, I recommend the AdoptOpenJDK variant so just follow these steps: If instead it produces an error message along the lines of “java is not recognized as an internal or external command” then you know that you don’t have Java and you’ll need to install it. If Java is already installed then the version should be returned, like this: This shows that Java is installed, along with the version information On Windows, just launch a command prompt and type the command “java -version” (without quotes). I’ve decided to use AdoptOpenJDK so that’s what I’ll use in this example.Īs JDownloader requires Java, you’ll need to check that you have it installed on your computer. A lot of people have made the switch from Oracle Java to an open-source version of Java, myself included. Oracle recently announced that they’re changing their licence model too, effectively moving it away from being free. Old versions of Java are notorious as posing security threats due to their numerous vulnerabilities. For security reasons, you should always make sure you’re running the latest version of Java available for your platform. Where you can download the safe/clean version of JDownloaderįirstly, as JDownloader is written in Java you’ll want to make sure you have a suitable “JRE”, or Java Runtime Environment installed on your system. Fortunately for us, JDownloader is a Java program so we can just download the “.jar” version and run it without installing. Some Anti-Virus software also flags JDownloader itself as being a “potentially unwanted program”. For a few years now, that official installer has contained adware and is sometimes flagged by Anti-Virus software for this reason. ![]() If you download JDownloader from a dubious source then, of course, you risk your computer becoming infected with a virus. You need to be very careful about where you download the software from. The good news is that JDownloader is safe to use, however, there are a few caveats that I must point out. I searched around the Web and posted on datahoarder forums asking if JDownloader was dangerous and I got a mixed response, so decided I would investigate for myself. In fact, this is exactly what happened to me and it made me worry that the software could be harmful to my computer. Functional for JDownloader versions as of Jan 2023 Build, forward. If you’ve ever tried to download or install JDownloader (aka JDownloader2), you may have been surprised to find that either the download was blocked by your Web browser, or that the installation file was quarantined by your Anti-Virus software. There you can specify that 360p you want your videos to be downloaded as. NOW, after you filtered the content, move to the LinkGrabber panel and select all (links and named packages with keyboard shortcut Ctrl+a) then use the right mouse button, then under the section denoting the source - let's say you link-grab from FunCatVideos - it will open another submenu when you hover and there you can choose to modify the existing variant or add another. REMEMBER: All filters saved are active all the time, UNLESS you make them (manually) inactive by removing the marker for the specific filter you wish to not apply for the following "link grabbing process" in the Linkgrabber Filter section of the Settings Then, before you confirm, you can use the test field at the bottom as you insert your link and click the play button (▶️) on the left side of the input field in order to test your filter. If you need only audio files that are of specific audio type opus then use File Type -> is not (as you want to negate the filter out part and make it filter in only your specific target) -> Custom Type (as from the drop-down the Audio means all audio types). In settings, there is a " Linkgrabber Filter" on the left side(way below General Reconnect etc.) and it is a filter out, so if you need only something specific you need to negate your target search. Using filtering is the most effective way you can do what you ask. ![]()
